Olivet Discourse
This blog explores the structure and meaning of the Olivet Discourse. Before that, some notes on the word "anointed." Then a headline review, shop notes and a VR app update.
Anointed
Many years ago Ryan and I were friends with a traveling evangelist. One of his favorite preaching topics was to reverse translate "Christ" back to the original word "anointed." He then explored what the Bible might mean in passages that used this word. He used this word trick to good effect and could keep audiences happy for hours.
The word "anointed" currently shows up in the BRB 639 times. In Greek based texts it is sometimes translated as "Christ." It can also be transliterated as "messiah." It is a word where games are played by most translators.
Ryan has been struggling with this word recently. In some passages in the BRB he has been changing "anointed" to "messiah" in order to study what those passages might actually be about. He has also been reading a book about Jewish expectations of "messiah." Jews are transliterating anointed to messiah when they are discussing expectations of a special king. Ryan seems to be through this general study and as of this week all occurrences of this word in the BRB have been returned to "anoint" or "anointed" depending on context.
This follows our general desire to have single English words mapped from single underlying Aramaic words. A 1 to 1 map like this allows English readers to reason about the text in a way that is the same as an original language reader would do.
Meaning
The root use of this word involves the ceremonial function that commissions priests and kings into their offices. To "anoint" with oil, which happens for both priests and kings, is the original simple use. Anointed priests can officiate sacrifice and anointed kings can rule over the government.
There are times when other things are anointed with oil as well. The stone pillar setup by Jacob is anointed. Many things related to the Tabernacle are also anointed. So this function does not just apply to people. In terms of a modern example, we could say we "anoint" an automobile when we polish it or wax it. This is a cosmetic use of the term anointing.
Complicating matters are examples found during the time of the kings when prophets are using the ceremony of anointing with oil to mark future kingship. This happens to Jehu in 2 King 9:6 for example.
The problem is how this word later also comes to mark the expectation of special examples of priests and kings. Usually this is the expectation of a special example of a king, but the definition is loose. Watching for a special "anointed" or special "messiah" became a hot topic in Jewish writing beginning in the inter-testamental era. Most of that writing is off-bible, but some is within the Bible itself.
We see this in the text when the people are wondering about John the Baptist. Perhaps John was the expected anointed? See Luke 3:15. John does not directly answer this, but he does say another is coming who is more important than John.
Notice how this is early in the New Testament and the people are fixated on the expectation of some special anointed.
Our Manuscript Problem
Fundamentally, the question we must answer involves to what extent Joshua himself fulfills the Jewish expectation of Messiah. So is he their expected special priest or special king?
This shows up in the discussion between Pilate and Joshua in John 18:36. In that passage Joshua says his kingdom is not of this world. If it were, his followers would come and fight to keep him, Joshua, away from the Jews.
This is giving 2 reasons why Joshua is not Messiah in the special king sense. First problem is 1) his kingdom is not of this world at all. But, if it were it would 2) certainly not be over the Jews. His followers would keep him away from that group.
So how then does the messiah title end up after Joshua's name across the Bible of today? How could a traveling evangelist 25 years ago have so much fun with word play around this term as it applies to Joshua?
Stated differently, why do we know of Joshua as "Jesus Christ." Or "Jesus Messiah" or "Jesus Anointed" depending on your convention for translating the second word in these phrases?
The Hand of The Editor
The insertion of the title "Christ" or "Messiah" or "Anointed" is going to be the handiwork of the New Testament editor Ananias.
As a title on the name, this is easy to weed out. But more complex stories involving this term are much more difficult to riddle through. Ryan is currently working through these problems across the Pauline Epistles.
It looks like Ananias wrote in stories that connected Joshua to the expected Jewish Messiah, so Jewish Anointed. This was done through various edits across the New Testament. Finding those edits is hard because of our own understanding of Joshua. We learned about Joshua as the anointed from that traveling evangelist years ago. What is it that we now take for granted that was actually Ananias' writing?
Let me help readers here by explaining it differently. Joshua is god in the flesh. A messiah, any messiah, is not god, but a man. That is the difference. Ananias was bringing Joshua down. Joshua was also being brought into the Jewish religious umbrella. This is something any true follower of Joshua would fight to prevent.
But Then Rejected
This gets even more interesting when you consider what happened later, after the high priest Ananias wrote in Joshua as a messiah. In the decades to follow is when the Jews would then come along and deny that Joshua was that same messiah. This was an idea that was itself their own construction. This is of course a mind bendingly difficult riddle.
The misapplication of the term "anointed" is part of the plot of the Olivet Discourse, which I will get to below. So if we don't get our heads around the normal use of the term, then the Olivet Discourse will remain hidden to us as well.
So, we need to be very, very careful around the use of this term. This because we are accustomed to the normal use, and our Christian training wants use of this term to be normal, and to be applied to Joshua.
Note that being called "Christian" is already a term messed up in this same family of manuscript edits. Such a strange world we live in.
Build It Now
The blog 3 weeks ago was a holiday week special and had a series of links to videos in and around Jerusalem. The last of those video links was to a discussion by some officials detailing their hopes for a new temple.
The link here is to that same last video again if you missed it. What matters most about this video is to see their very important connection between their goal for a rebuilt temple because it is also their eventual venue for "messiah" to come. Note how very important their temple rebuild is to their beliefs about a messiah. The temple and the concept of a messiah are very tightly coupled in their theological world view.
Temple Dates
In several recent blogs I have dealt with the possibility that Israel is getting ready to build another temple. The Red Heifer ashes, for example, were made ready on July 1, 2025. We have possible timeline dates for a temple starting in January of 2026.
But note there were 3 times in history when temple work was done and we may see phases of a modern rebuilt temple landing on different historical temple related replays. The tail end of this seems to be in 2028 when we replay the New Testament related stories. So the temple appears to have about a 3 year window (2026, 2027, 2028) from the writing of this blog. So what we are looking at in this blog has about 3 years when parts of it may play out. It may also intersect Noah related dates in 2029.
Other Dates
The Olivet Discourse may also be referencing other prophetic dates related to modern Israel. Let me review the modern dates related to Israel that I have well documented on Bible Time and Bible Tribes.
For reference, the 4 formation wars for modern Israel, so the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973 are known because they are offset from events in Jeremiah's day when different groups of refugees where hauled away from ancient Jerusalem. See Jeremiah 52:28-30 for the origin stories for that timeline, they offset using Leviticus 26 related math to these modern wars.
These modern wars mark returns from being refugees. The 1967 war being special because the Old City of Jerusalem was returned to Jewish control in that war, so the war in 1967 involved the return of Temple Mount, the subject of the Olivet Discourse.
Modern Israel is also identified by a Seal Date in January of 1974 and that date's document marks the end of fighting in the 1973 Yom Kippur war. That date identifies modern Israel, and perhaps also Egypt, as the lost tribe of Benjamin, not the tribe of Judah. This is a distinction which also matters in the Olivet Discourse.
Matthew's Account
Last weekend Ryan and I spent considerable time in the Olivet Discourse which is located in Matthew 24. Our discussion was insightful and we found structure in that chapter we had not seen before. This caused Ryan to update the BRB markup for that chapter. That markup shows off the structure of that passage. I will be using that new tooling below to quickly parse out some parts of that chapter.
Before turning to the details, I need to review the context, especially what might be going on in terms of the prophetic placement of that story in overall history.
Matthew's Grand Run
There is an important prophetic timeline that starts in Matthew 16. I've known about this timeline since I was working on Bible Time 25+ years ago. The link above is to the section on Bible Time where I document this "grand run" timeline. I used this name because it counts out time using days, where each day is 1000 years long. Grand being slang for 1000. See 2 Peter 3:8 for the cite for the 1000 years is as 1 day time ratio which unpacks the prophetic story of the Grand Run itself.
When I wrote up that material I generally stopped at the Triumphal Entry at the start of Matthew 21. I generally timed riding into Jerusalem on the donkey as the invention of the railroad in the early 1800s. Steam engines were originally called donkeys. Small steam engines were called donkey engines all throughout the age of steam.
The early 1800s is the point in history where other timeline work wants Passion Week to begin, and the invention of the railroad was an obvious historical match. So this seemed to mark the end to the Grand Run series.
The invention of the railroad made overland high speed transportation possible. It made the world a much smaller place. It allowed consolidation of planetary political power into the hands of a few. So 25 years ago it made a reasonable ending to the series that begins in Matthew 16.
Missing Link
After that mark to the invention of railroads, I generally lost the scent, and could not figure out how the dialog between Joshua and the religious leaders of Jerusalem would have much bearing on modern headlines. 25 years ago I did not understand the widespread Jewish control of nearly every aspect of the modern world. Even 5 years ago I did not understand this aspect of the modern world.
Now, I would argue, Mathew's Grand Run has not stopped. He is giving us strong discourse between Joshua and the Jewish leaders because this is the state of our current modern world. Nearly everything in the western world is controlled by the "Israel Lobby." They want to control the whole world, but currently do not. Much of Asia is still outside of their grasp.
Matthew 21 through 23 contains a series of stories that point at their money lending, military power and political control. In the end they will be the agents for the world wars. They now control essentially everyone in the US government and thus control the American empire.
The Jewish banking cartel really began to take over the world in the early 1800s. The City of London, a sovereign square mile in the middle of modern London, was the banking capital and driver for the British empire. This also expressed itself across the rest of Europe. Think Napoleon attacking Russia, the US Civil war and many, many other wars and conquests.
Many current affairs analysts point at how the British Empire still lingers behind many current headlines. They point at Britain, and not the Jewish banker controlled city of London. This is a mistake I shared 25 years ago.
The plans for recovery of modern Israel for the Jews are thought to have started in earnest at the time when Benjamin Disraeli was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He was the first Jew who publicly ruled the English speaking world. His first term began in February of 1868.
So I must leave most of the content of Matthew 21 through 23 for a future study. These are going to be stories that point at specific times when their control over the western world was advancing, or changing in some way. These are going to have specific headlines, but they may not be well documented because much of this action is carried out in relative secret.
We can skip over this material from Matthew 21-23 and realign this otherwise lost timeline using a reference at the tail end of Matthew 23. Here we get a reference to the return of the Jews to the Old City of Jerusalem, including temple mount. So the tail of Matthew 23 aligns with events in 1967.
Gathered as Chicks
Just ahead of the Olivet Discourse is a series of conversations between Joshua and various leaders in and around the Temple at Jerusalem.
The link here is to Matthew 23:37-38, let me quote those key verses in whole here. "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killer of the prophets, and stoner of those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Your house will be left to you desolate."
Jerusalem was brought back in our day, with the war in 1967. The various tour videos from the holiday blog 3 weeks ago spoke of and showed evidence of that war. This is when the Jews from ancient Jerusalem were finally gathered back together as chicks. You can see in this how Matthew is continuing to function as a timed book of prophetic history. I've just skipped across from around 1800 to exactly 1967.
But in this passage, Joshua has more to say. Joshua is indicating he had hoped for better than what has actually happened in modern Israel. Because of Gaza, we can see Jerusalem has regressed. Some in Israel itself are saying Israel has regressed, even to barbarism. This passage in Matthew is indicating that because of how they are conducting themselves, their house, so likely the entire land of Israel, will be left desolate.
Joshua will address how that is going to be left desolate in the following chapter. The start of the Olivet Discourse is where he does this. This is the main passage I want to address in this blog.
Matthew 24 (BRB)
The link here is of course to the Olivet Discourse in the BRB. This material is also found in the Table of 400, currently set at story 423. It is also found in the TT.
New Notation
Last week I explained a new Chiasm notation. I used Psalms 12 as an illustration of how that works. This week Ryan has added that notation to Matthew 24. If you don't already have Chiasm turned on, use the Enumerations option of the top-right menu and enable both general Enumerations and Chiasm notations.
What you will then see in the Olivet Discourse is that there is a massive Chiastic structure here, and that Chiasm also follows the paleo alphabet.
Even more precisely, the Olivet Discourse is following the rows of the Table of 400. Under the Enumeration notes Ryan has noted the title for the row in question so casual readers can generally relate the text here to the historical back story that provides some interpretation.
Note that this Chiastic, enumerated, list runs beyond the end of the Olivet Discourse itself. It looks to run all the way to the end of Matthew, so it currently covers 2 cells in the Table of 400. This very strongly suggests that there is a Grand Run timeline riddle all the way to the end of Matthew. That Grand Run starts at Adam and runs all the way through the end of the age.
I am focused in this blog only on the temple, so let me narrow the scope, and not deal with distant future world history.
Three Questions
In Matthew 24:2 Joshua makes a point to his disciples that the temple will be torn down, not a stone will be left on another. This is more prophecy about Modern Israel. Since the temple is not currently standing, we can deduce that as part of this modern prophetic series we are being told the temple must be rebuilt in our day. This is also likely the mechanism by which the land will become desolate.
This statement triggers the disciples to ask 3 questions in return. These are apparently asked once they have reached the top of the Mount of Olives which is across the Kidron Brook, east of Temple Mount.
They ask, "When will this happen, What will be the sign of your coming and the end of the world?" The rest of this discourse is going to answer these 3 questions. Because he is going to run the answers to these 3 questions together we need to find the breaks between these answers.
Return Details
The New Testament material is reached at Matthew 24:30, where the passage is structurally reaching Luke. This is the verse where Joshua starts to answer the 2nd question, what will be the sign of your coming? Of course the interpretive row is Luke, and it was the era of the incarnation 2000 years ago.
Viewed from the Grand Run timeline that began at Matthew 16, this verse at Matthew 24:30 is actually a giant leap forward, leaving behind our current era in world history.
Let me hint the math: Just as Joshua's ascension was 40 days out from his resurrection at the end of Passion Week, so too, is the return far out from our day. At 30 years to the day, the key ratio for this, his return would be expected ~1200 years in our future. So roughly 3200 AD, give or take a few decades. Even then, this is not at all the end of the age. He will then go again on a journey and leave his apostles in charge. This aspect of the story is the bottom of the Olivet Discourse and the remaining stories in the Book of Matthew.
Temple Details
So all the Temple material is generally from the list of 3 questions down to but not including Matthew 24:30. So Temple related stories for our era are given in Matthew 24:4-29.
This is where we read about what will be going on when the temple is torn down, when not a stone will be left remaining. This indicates that the building of this modern temple is not as interesting to us as the end of that building. The end of that building is what we are to watch. You can read through the details yourself, but let me cover a few verses that stand out to me.
Joshua as the Anointed
Matthew 24:4 has a warning about being deceived over false claims of the anointed. This is already trouble because it is using that troubling vocabulary word. Joshua is not the Jewish messiah.
When I learned about this passage as young man attending church I learned this verse to mean watch out for false Christs. So people pretending to be Jesus. (In the church world Jesus and Christ are effectively synonyms.)
But there is a trick here. The whole verse is in green. The personal pronoun "I" is spoken by Joshua.
Joshua is saying that anyone who calls him Christ, or Messiah, or Anointed, is false.
This makes little sense if all you know is the Bible of today. The church world says Jesus IS the messiah, he is the Christ.
But the church world knows Joshua through the lens of Ananias' edits.
What does this have to do with the Temple? Because everyone supporting the work to build the temple, including most members of the US Congress, are supporting that work because they want Jesus to return. They see Jesus as the messiah. They expect him to return. They expect him to return to the Jewish temple, the same place where Joshua was killed. They also conflate the Jewish messiah with "Christ."
Ultimately this verse is warning about Zionist Christianity and the agents behind the construction of this end-times temple. The temple is being rebuilt by an unholy alliance between powerful Jews and certain Christians.
Not the End
Matthew 24:6-8 is indicating that this is NOT the end of the world. The end of the world is still far away in future time. This is just a time of travail, so a very painful time of when something is birthed.
In this verse Joshua is indicating that the desire to build the temple is a desire to usher in the end of the world. But, that belief is flat out wrong. The end is NOT in this era at all. So all expectations placed on the rebuilt temple in any sort of theological sense are false.
Thinking Must Be Preached
Matthew 24:14 indicates that "This thinking must be preached throughout the world, then the end will come." Of course nobody building the temple has any idea about the inspired text. It is not available. Additional volumes are not available. The letter perfect text is not available. All anyone has is Ananias' edited text. Recovery and then generations of preaching are needed before there can be any real end. This is why this modern temple era is seriously far away from any real end of the world.
This verse, though, is also hinting that it will become available again in our time in history. Saying this here in this blog is perhaps a little self serving, but there it is.
Refuse of Desolation
Matthew 24:15 has a reference to "refuse of desolation" along with a reference back to Daniel. The gathering of this refuse is the marker that terrible events are about to start.
To interpret this, think about the purpose of the temple. It is for animal sacrifice. This leaves behind refuse. The word "temple" can be transliterated into English as "Facility." The staff there as "Faculty." The root for these words also comes into English as "Fecal." It is a messy job.
The moment that refuse starts to accumulate, Matthew 24:16 and following suggests all manner of trouble is going to break out.
Sacrifice like this does not absolutely demand a finished temple building. It only demands the start of Sacrifice. The political situation currently sees the King of Jordan responsible for Temple Mount. Should the Jews take enough control to start sacrifice, then this prophetic marker in Matthew 24:15 is reached. But, recall, the stones will be torn down, so something must be built, even if not finished.
Judah To the Mountain
Matthew 24:16 says that Judah must then flee to the mountain. In a long list of ways this is explained as needing to be done very quickly.
When I was a young man, the common mistake with this story was to apply Judah to the modern Jews and thus modern Israel. The Bible Tribes work clearly identifies Judah as modern Russia. So this story is applying to modern Russia. Modern Russia must flee to the mountain.
As a people, the Russians flee east of the Ural mountains in order to give distance between themselves and invading Europeans. This was especially true when they moved their industrial base east of the Urals at the start of World War II.
But Russia also has a particular mountain east of the Urals. Since the start of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine, Russian President Putin has made several urgent flights out east. This appears to be their nuclear hardened underground base for conducting nuclear war. The text seems to indicate this will become a war fought from inside that mountain.
From Matthew 24:17-22 we have more descriptions of troubles caused by nuclear war and fallout. Note there are references to the "elect" in this passage. Russia appears to be one of the few that operates with Christian principles. Still an edited concept, but not the Satanic principles of the Zionist west.
Not the End
Matthew 24:23-25 is again on warnings over the problem of looking for the "anointed." We are warned again, have nothing to do with anyone using that term as a source of salvation. We can presume the Jews will march out someone whom they claim is a messiah somewhere in this process.
Matthew 24:26-29 is also again on the warnings that this is NOT the end of the world. This includes a frightful reference to what looks like nuclear winter. The sun being darkened and the moon not giving light.
Storm clouds do something similar, and there is a timeline vector into 2029 when we see the 7000th anniversary of Noah. Noah's ark was some sort of refuge like place, similar to parts of this Olivet Discourse. This story may be suggesting the need to run and hide in some special ark like place in order to ride out the storm.
As I write this, Ryan currently marks some of this material as a possible addition. This is in part because the pacing is strange. That strange pacing may be deliberate.
This Is Serious
So I hope I have convinced you that the Jews working towards a temple in Jerusalem is perhaps the most serious headline we could possibly follow.
Once they start sacrifice in their holy place, trouble will quickly break out. The war will be against Russia. It will look like the end of the world, but beware, the end is not yet.
More Work
Ryan and I are still very busy with technical work. We hope to be to the point of working the audit some time this coming winter. That audit work should bring more clarity to troubling words like "anointed."
Until then, we are keeping our eye on events in Israel and events between the Zionist controlled west and Russia. The bankers never really got control of Russia, thus their never ending war between Europe and Russia. Those bankers are greedy, wanting control of $75T in estimated natural wealth.
Russia is not fighting Zionism alone. This past week we saw a major gathering of nations that look to ultimately be on Russia's side. Let me pick up that story as part of this week's headline review.
SCO Summit
August 31 and September 1, 2025, were the 2 formal days for the SCO summit in Tianjin, China. Dignitaries had been arriving and meeting for several days already. The link here is to Pepe Escobar's brief summary on UNZ.
This group of world leaders were busy making trade deals. They were discussing how their growing group of sovereign nations is the alternative to the Zionist empire we see in the west.
Mutual respect for the individual sovereignty of nations is the cornerstone to their work. This is in contrast to the west where an empire is being built with a planned capital at Jerusalem.
The SCO model matches what Moses tried to put in place after the Exodus. The Jerusalem model wants a planetary king.
Power of Siberia II
The link here is to an RT article detailing an agreement to build a new gas pipeline from Russia to China via Mongolia. The general agreement was signed at the SCO meeting. Financing and gas pricing have yet to be worked out, but the pricing model is expected to be market driven.
This pipeline reroutes gas that has traditionally flowed to Germany and instead routes it to China. This marks the end of the industrial base of Europe. It will take a few years to construct.
The bankers don't care, they will try and fix this by conquering Russia. That is not going to happen, at least with very many Germans still alive.
Chinese World War II 80th Anniversary
On September 2, 2025, the Chinese held an impressive military parade in celebration of their victory over the Japanese 80 years before. The link here is to an RT article with details, especially Putin's visit to that parade.
We continue to roll through 80th anniversary dates from events at the end of World War II. The 1948 war in Israel has its 80th anniversary in 2028, roughly coincident with the 2000th anniversaries of the events in the New Testament.
3I/Atlas
The link here is to a Randall Carlson video on Youtube dealing with known details for the 3I/Atlas comet. Randal's producer gathered most of the details, Randal should have done a little more homework.
This thing reeks of artificiality. Because we only recently have the technology to spot such things, we have no idea if this is common, or rare. It will be nearest the sun, and behind the sun from earth, in mid October, 2025. We may get more pictures early next year.
Shop Work
I have been running test prints for possible color schemes for the next big exhibit to be 3d printed in the shop. But, my main focus this week has been cleaning up the shop and packing the exhibits. We are traveling this coming weekend.
VR Updates
The link here is to the VR app off paleo.in. This app has been through a refresh. Let me explain the changes.
This app includes 19 different translations and texts of the Bible. It displays them by verse, with all translations visible at the same time.
The big change is to the order of the translations as presented in this app. English translations have been lifted to the top. Texts in other languages are now sorted lower in the various displays.
There were also a few bugs in the markup for one of the manuscripts which was causing crashes in the app when that version was displayed. The code has been changed to be more resilient to similar bugs in the future, and the markup problem has been fixed.
More Later,
